So this is the result of so called cream students selcted through so called rigorous entrance test. Only 26/2** from the most prestigious Regular Batch in the top 500? That’s a shame.
Most of the students who get ranks more than 500 don’t get courses & centres of there choices in IIT & I believe primarily that’s the reason why only top 500 rankers are shown.
Like other institutes VMC is also becoming/is a money-making institute which’s just trying to make more money through more extended seats, new study centres, partnerships, new courses and what not. There outdated philosophy of studying only their study material, 80-90% self-study, surprise tests to demoralize students, as many few classes as possible and threatening students is all enough to ruin students and same has been happening from years. Even if the handful of students who secure really good rank are to be credited to VMC then it’s nowhere to be compared with the failures. In my opinion this institute and the teachers here are the only ones who are so over-confident to criticise other institutes & hold themselves in high esteem. As the results and statistics show there record has been best with DC alone and that only because of there speed training but if compared on goal grounds then DC stands miles away from IIT. They should better change “Gurukul for IIT Preperation”.
They have been taking only one class of Regular batch from years and that’s the weakest point in my opinion. If a comparison is made between the effort put in by VMC teachers & teachers of other institutes on teaching grounds then I can bet 500$ that VMC teachers will lack behind. Though the selected students are intelligent enough and one can expect much from them but they should have realised that all students can not be improved by just terrorising them to throw out of the institute, surprise tests and insults. There are tons of weak-points in there teaching and methodology even though the teachers try to teach there best. They should realise that just putting pressure on students to work harder and more will bring more negative effects than positive.

  6. Vipul

I don’t agree. The surprise tests are conducted in all the institutes. Its not an outdated philosophy. Following a single curriculum is much better, instead of having your hands full with correspondence courses of other institutes or other study material that is available in bulk in the market.
And, if you are an ex vmcian and still haven’t realized the value of self study, then you wasted your time here.No use explaining why self study is better.
And you lost your $500.VMC teachers are honestly the best teachers that i have seen or would ever see.My younger brother is in VMC and this was his first opinion and so was mine.

  7. Harshyt

Now that has to be one of the stupidest things i’ve heard in quite some time, who are you? an ex-VMcian? if not then at what grounds are you even trying to judje what happens here, you’re are misinformed, very judjemental and extremely unfair with the critisism.
Plus, we are NOT threatened to be thrown out..Ever, stupid myth.
And if 500 bucks are all that you’re gonna bet on the teachers not putting enough effort, then boy are you underconfident about what you say, i’d bet a ,million and still be sure that they put in more(and more efficient) work as compared to any other teacher out there.
What you just said there signifies silly people with nothing better than wasting their time. I’ve said what i wanted to, if you reply, don’t bother, i’m better off without arguing with numskulls like you

  8. Akshit

    Great result

  9. ecc student

how the rest of the students have fared ?
    i mean the overall result?

  10. Sahil Arora

    VMC rocks!!
The person who is critisizing the philosophies and ideologies might have not performed well in the exam for which i can guarantee the fact that he hadn’t followed VM BLINDLY (if he’s an ex-VMCian.
And we don’t need explanations, VM Result speaks much better than us.

  11. Sahil Arora

Overall Result will be out soon after all confirmations.

    Cheers
    Sahil Arora

  12. Ragadeepika

I’m a student of VMC and I’m proud of it. The teaching here, its ideologies and methodologies are the best. And the thing which you refer as the weakest point, i.e., one class per week is the best of all. I don’t think you know what exactly is self-study and how important it is. I’ve experienced the so called other institutes in 10th itself and i can surely say that children are facing harassment over there. VMC helps the children to enjoy their studies. And for your kind information, the teachers here are the best and most hard-working you can ever find. If you’re a VM-cian and have failed, then I can only say that you’re blaming others for your failures. Ponder upon yourselves first and then criticise others.

  13. NITIN

YOU MAY SAY WHAT YOU WANT BUT VM TOH VM HI RAHEGA

  14. Sufferer

VMC ideologies & methods are good for exams like DC and other exams but not IIT JEE. As far as the success rate is concerned, then I would be glad to know what does success mean to these VMC guys. Just getting a rank in JEE a success in itself? Is that enough? If only very selected and hard-working students are selected then the success rate should be calculated in terms of best ranks secured & not just selections. Calculate yourself the success rate for best ranks and see it going down drastically and shamefully.

  15. Sahil Arora

You seem to be a failure at JEE-09 or secured a low rank below 5500.
Say what u want, i doesn’t affect VM and its students.
Vaise i wanna say that VM is not about IIT only, its about your whole life.

  16. Student

Look, sufferer, you seem the kind of a person who didn’t get into VMC or something, and were so hard hit by it that you’re dying to prove that it’s worthless.

But I couldn’t disagree with you more. VMC is one of the best things that happened to me. Not more than a few weeks ago, we were told how it’s important not to only secure a rank in IIT, but to also be a curious student there. I don’t think there’s any other institute that says anything of this sort.

When I hear my teachers teach, it is evident that they care for each one of us. They talk to us in a way that makes sitting in the class totally worth it.

It’s not just about the teachers. Sustaining the course is very important, it’s a lot mor about hard work than intelligence. And there’s no use making you feel that u’re doing brilliant in your IIT preparation if you aren’t. That’s where the surprise tests come in. Scoring low should only make you work harder. End of story.

And if you’ve ever been taught by any of the VMC bhaiya’s, then I you should be ashamed of even THINKING that they did all of this just to make money. Go fry your head somewhere, will you?

  17. Student

Oh and in case you have forgotten, the three bhaiya’s are IIT grads themselves. Don’t you think they could have got jobs that would have paid them a lot of money? But they chose to teach students like us, who believe in them, and students like you, who are nutheads. Will you still say that all they want is money?

Even if you are one, please don’t ever call youself a VMCian. You don’t deserve it.

  18. Jai Anand

    Hey i m student of VMC n really i m proud of it…
Teaching methodology is ideal, different n doesnt put much pressure on the students…
And about terrorising, some students like u doesnt follow wht d teacher says n when u dnt succeed u put all d blame on the teachers…
Now abt efforts, Every bhaiya in vidyamandir put more efforts than any other teacher in the world, they r passionate abt teaching, dey dnt teach jst for money,
It depends on ur vision, Vivek Bhaiya says” If u think teacher is good, u’ll like d topic n u’ll learn a lot, bt if u think teacger isnt gud, iu wont be able to indulge urself fully in dat topic” N He is absolutely correct…
They worry abt us, they care for us, they r helpful, dey sort out every pblm of urs, be it related to study or be it ur personal pblm…
Surprsise tests r necessary to test the students whether u r doing d work dey hv given or not…
If dey wont take tests, some students misuse dem n dont study d topic…
U need to trust VM blindly n follow wht dey say….jst forget ur worries abt syllabus n all d stuff…
Jst put in ur best, n see hw ur life will change….
If u put good efforts n knw d topic, u’ll be happy to give its test, n it will build up ur confidence that is u require in JEE….
    CHEERS!!!

  19. Jai Anand

Sahil is absolutely correct, VMC is nt only abt IIT, its also abt making a student responsible for his career…
When u go to VM, before class u r full of energy n after class ur energy gets doubled coz d energy u had wid urself has also grasped d knowledge, energy n d inspiration dat Bhaiya gives….
Even if some students dnt get in IIT from VM, dey r nt losers, usee most of the coolege toppers in IP,DCE Or IIT r from VM…
Bade Bhaiya says” Our responsibilty is not only for 2 years, bt we want d students to do well for d next 4-5 years in d college”….
Still most of the ex-vmcians meet bhaiya n discuss wid dem…
Look sufferer, people who criticise others hvnt put in their best efforts dats why trying to find out d imaginary reason for their failure…
Ask urself “Have you given ur best?”

Vmc had the best results of all times …. This time they cant do it its ok … I m in vmc n i know they put a lot of effort on each and every student … The material they give is the best … if u dont trust me then u can compare it with the material of any other institute … n vmc is not based on money making , if it is then they wud’nt take any entrance xam n any felloq student is allowed to come in vmc like other institutes do …. I dont think u wer a student of vmc dats y dont know wat happens in vmc and if wer then i think u wer not selected in iit thats y u r saying all these things … but u should know that at the end its u to decide where u hav to go and how u hv to work hard to achieve it …. So u better think atleast 10 times to say anything wrong about vms or students of vmc …..

  22. Anirudh Sen

I am an ex VMC-ian and can safely say that for all the statistics that all the institutes in Kota and Hyderabad keep on throwing at you, their students are the ones who “give up” on studies at IIT. Their noses are pressed against a relentless millstone and the first chance they get, they give up. VMC’s study methodology keeps you fresh and up for a challenge. As bade Bhaiyya used to say “IIT ke professors ka ek hi maksad hai-tumhe drain karna, saari vitality nikalna”. Given the standard of teaching at IIT, (for a majority of the professors teaching comes a very distant second to their top priority-research and hence quality of teaching suffers. Self study becomes very important. So be thankful for the self study. if you think that getting into IIT is the moment you won the battle, you are SO WRONG.
On a personal note, I have benifitted a lot from VMC’s methodology. It served me well in IIT-Madras and is serving me well at IIM-Ahmedabad. So according to me VMC prepares you for life

hey guys, thanks for defending vmc(i am 2011 student).i felt very depresed(not so much)when i saw top 500 rank list and vmc not even managed rank 10.but your comment have gave me some confidence.what hurt me more was that i left fiitjee(i topped their all india entrance exam)and chose vmc.but got rank 1,narayana got 3,etc

guys first thing i want to ask was why vmc, being the best institue, not manage good ranks.secondly,if i had made corect decision.thirdly,is thereany such problem with their methodology(i have heard that they throw out of class asking too many question,or their speed of syllabus is too slow aur thing like that they are striving on their older feat, not present, their TS stand nowhere close to iit jee)

also one thing i want to tell you mr. sufferer, what weakness you find in surprise tests(if yes,you are like student who studies only from fear of test)

plz give some good and encouraging comments and answer,so that i can have more trust in vmc than ever

  28. alok singh

Well, abc…my name is Alok and I have secured AIR 115 this time. I will try to answer your questions –

1- Why VMC being the best institution does not manage good ranks?
Ans. – Whatever anybody says, it is quite true that the result of VMC is not as good as it earlier used to be. The reason would be that earlier exams used to be subjective and now they are objective. VMC selects students who are really intelligent and in subjective exams, where intelligence is very important, they used to do much better. But the problem in objective exams is that anyone who has done really hard work can make up for the fact that he is less intelligent.
VMC’s main motto is self-study and it is true that they teach very less compared to other institutes. So while in some other coaching institute, Newton’s laws might take 10-15 classes, in VMC it is finished in 2 classes. But the important point is that you are expected to do the chapter yourself 2-3 times before the class, and if you have done that, then the bhaiyyas know which points would be confusing and they focus on these points only. I believe that this teaching method is the best (whatever others might say) that one should study self and then one gets one’s doubts cleared in class.
Now, results have gone down mainly because bhaiyyas have not been able to adapt to the new exam pattern entirely (particularly chemistry – maths and physics are ok). Although bade bhaiyya who teaches chemistry is a very good teacher, but I still feel that chemistry is the weak link in the study of VMC. But as far as I know, the people at VMC are correcting this, and providing intensive material now for 2010 onwards batches and so I believe that results will be much better next year.

    2- Have I made a good decision?
Ans- Personally, I think that the decision is good. Considering that you topped fiitjee’s exam and got selected in VMC, I assume that you are quite a good student. Studying in VMC will make you more confident about JEE. But be careful as two two things – first, always follow what the bhaiyyas say and the second, never pay less attention to chemistry. I say this because I myself neglected chemistry and it was only due to it that my rank is 115 whereas it could have been in top 100 (I lost more marks in chem than in maths and physics combined).

    3- Any problem with methodology?
Ans- I have told you the methodology above and I think that it is perfectly alright because if a person gets used to self-study he will succeed everywhere, even in IITs.
It is not true that one is thrown out of the class for asking too many questions. This is a complete rumour. But you should also know that bhaiyyas are very strict about the fact that you should not study any other material except VMC’s and NCERT books (From my personal experience, I can say that they are enough). So, if you ask a bhaiyya a question from another book, and he comes to know about it (remember that they are very experienced people), then you will be in some trouble (not too much). For further assurance, I can say that in my two years of VMC, I have seen only 4-5 students being sent out of class and none were sent out for asking too many questions.
The syllabus in maths is lightning fast and it is almost complete 6 months before exam. Physics is also complete by 3-4 months before exam. Chemistry goes on however, until 2 months are left (I told you chem is the weak link).
The TS of VMC is the best way you can prepare for JEE. I believe that it is the only test series which resembles JEE’s difficulty level and other aspects most accurately. Also, it provides a way to revise previous topics, whereas in other institutes, the periodic tests contain only new topics but in VMC, the syllabus from the start is included. Be sure mate, that the Test Series is really an accurate depiction of your abilities. In all test series, I have a combined rank of 6, and if you omit the 2 correspondence students above me in the rank list, you can see that I scored 6th rank among VMCians in JEE also.

I hope that now your trust is firmly laid in VMC. If you have any other questions then you can ask me here.

well i,m also a ex vmcian and have qualified IITJEE 2009 but not with a brilliant rank. Well except the sufferers point regarding self studies i agree to him for most of the points. i don’t blame jai anand or ragadeepika etc. for taking the side of vmc and saying that they are proud to be a vmcian because i also used to do the same when i was studying at vm . till you are studying at vmc or you clear IITJEE with a good rank you can never see the loopholes of vmc

  33. Proud to be a VMCian

    I m a student of VMC 2010 Batch.
The problem i saw here is mainly that a few students are complaining about chemistry.I felt the same too.
Well, in my point it was so becoz inorganic chem. is not taught in VM(becoz it’s very boring).
But now Bhaiyyas are now making some plans regarding the changing patterns in IITJEEand are taking inorganic chem. tests in every class to assure that the weak link might just become the strongest.

  34. 2009 Batch

first of all we’d better suggest u that u should join a crash course for nursery class as its 27 out of 500 not 26. Tujhe counting bhi nahi aati!!!!!!!! hahahahahahaha. then may be you can count correctly ( but i think its possibility tends to zero). Tere liye ek kahawat hai ” aasman pe thuka to muh pe girta hai” ( kahwat to pata hai na kya hote hai? Aur matlab nahi pata to shayad 10th pass to kiya hoga to us kitab me dekh lena, aur agar kitab nahi hoga to kisi se phooch lena, bolna to aata hi hoga). U r so arrogant, insensitive, nonsense, sike and insane to comment upon our god like teachers. Ask urself honestly ( well we think that guys like you r even not honest to urself). U r just world aclaimed liar. The things that bade bhaiya told (if u listened carefully), have u followed them. sorry! if u would have followed it then you would not have been in this frustrated condition. VMC is not just a place for iit prep, but its a place where we learn how to live life with an everlasting enthusiasm and spirit. Jab tu time waste kar raha tha bhaiya ne tujhe warn kiye, jab tu galat raah pe ja raha tha to bhaiya ne phir rokna chaaha, par tere kaan pe juu na rengi. Ab tera result kharab hai to kisi ko tune dosh dena hi tha, to kyun na VMC ko hi. Ek aur kahawat specially 4 u “my dear daddo” “kutte bhokte rahte hai par haathi apni mast chal banaye rakhta hai”. The experince in vmc is the my best in life, and every lesson bout life that i have learned here will be cherished and stored in the warm corners of OUR HEART. Vmc is the source 4 where passion, devotion and success has got its essence from. And VMC is rocking and will rock on!!!!!!! cheers to our sweet VM family and our bhaiya. And we will carry these sweet memories in our life. bye DADOO

  35. Achal Gupta

    well mr sufferer,
i would like to tell u something. i m a student of ecc2009 batch. Last year, after shuffling i was shifted to ECC 17 batch. I lost hope, But bade bhaiya’s priciples kept me alive, it gave me confidence & the determination and the will to work hard. I started following everything that he and the other bhaiya’s said. Cosequently i improved. Revising Lecture notes, studying in sittings of 3 hrs, doing modules thoroughly helped me a lot.
If this wouldve happened in any other institute, they would ve further demoralized me, taken huge number of classes, mocked me, and what not.
But bade bhaiya never failed to raise our hopes..spirits in any of his class. he never made any kind of discrimination.
as far as i m concerned i have a rank of 5400 in iit, 346 in bitsat, and it could happen only because vmc had faith in us.
and as far as u r concerned, either u r not a vmc-ian, or if u have studied from it, then u ve not become a vmc-cian.
u r just another loser who likes to blame everything and everyone for his problems. All the Bhaiyas, including those who teach in ecc are not merely teachers. they guide u, help you in ur problems, give u advice, and treat u like their own brother. where else can u find such teachers? so better not even try to mock or blame vmc, my friend.
    YOU WONT FIND ANY TAKERS

  36. dhruv chaudhary

hi all ,lets not argue and justify ourselves, if we dont trust our teachers and our institute then its our fault no body can help us.rest every thing depends on your own hard work bhaiyas can only guide us,and vmc does not need any accridition from anyone and it doesnot need any bodys certification that its the best

I have seen the comments of sufferer and feel that these are not the true facts related to VMC and its methodology.

I had left a popular iitjee institute to join the vmc course. So I have had a first hand experience of how the course is conducted in different places.

vmc’s study material is great and so is their teaching. Surprise tests are not given to us to demoralize us or to demean us, but given for our own benefit, so that we do not develop a relaxed attitude in these 2 years, which could be our biggest enemy in the way of our iit dreams.

VMC is not a money making institute. If that were the case, then why would it take only students selected through a rigorous admission test, held only once in a year. Other institutes keep having admission tests again and again and keep trying to attract students by offering them scholarships and discounts. on the other hand vmc and its learning centres end up refusing admissions to thousands of students. Some of my friends studying at their learning partner study centres are all praises of vmc’s initiative to provide a facility to a lot more deserving students to attend their classroom course through their extended and learning partner classroom courses.

As for showing smaller numbers within the top 500, if u compare the results of other institutes, vmc’s results will be much better as the total number of students studying in other institutes is much higher. also, vmc does not fake results like other institutes. other institutes announce thousands of successful candidates in iitjee, but if you look at the students in the top 500, u will find that same students are appearing in the list of most of the institutes. vmc does not do this. vmc does not need to do this kind of cheating.

Can anyone tell me if the article on VMC written here is worth believing?

And we will carry these sweet memories in our life. bye DADOO

Why dont u read all the comments below the article…u will get ur answer

  45. Ragadeepika

    Its all lies.

  46. obj

hmm….it’s quite simple really…vmc suits a few,but not everybody…Let’s luk at the facts:
1.VMC has much fewer classes than other coaching instis..and i am not even comparing it with kota..
2.VMC doesnt believe in sharing it’s grand plans with the students. It wants the students to follow it blindly…which is quite difficult, for intelligent minds…blind faith duzn’t come so easily.
3.VMC believd in makin us do a phD in organic…which turned out to be rather useles…i hav sat fr 5 xams so far..and i can honestly say that organic chem hardly was of any importance..and it certainly wasn’t of the same lvl of diffikulty..tho credit must be given to them for the way they taught physical chem..it ROCKD..
4.Inorganic:It ws the downfall of many this JEE…it’s importance cant be overemphasised…not inly JEE but most othr xams have a sizeable share of inorganic…and the GREAT VMC doesn’t believe in doing any inorganic..xcpt for co-ordination,which is very sad…
5.Also, i don’t like starry-eyed ppl who put vmc and it’s teachers on a pedestal… let’s get this straight..it’s more of a profit making organisation…besides munna bhaiya,i never thought that any of the other teachers really cared so much.Physics wale bhaiya is a genus…bt quite often he taught sumthing in 1 batch(B batch),and skipped it in the rest..which didn’t help matters..
6.inorganic was not included in most of the TS.Had we had a comprehensive plansystem, with more review tests for inorganic, vmc would have had a stunning result.

finally,i would just like to say that bade bhaiya ke theories might not have helped us so much in short term..but they are invaluable treasures for a lifetime…VMC SHOULD STOP BEING INFLEXIBLE…TIMES ARE CHANGING..AND I GUESS SOME BETTER METHODS NEED TO BE EMPLOYED TO ADAPT TO THE CHANGING TIMES..inorganic is of vital importance…atleast v shld hav had proper inclusion of it in the TS.

Now, results have gone down mainly because bhaiyyas have not been able to adapt to the new exam pattern entirely ….i also feel that vmc selects the cream of the country..but brings them down a notch..unlyk kota which raises the level of average kids….time to buckle up,i think???

dekh bhai mujhe pata nahi ki tune 2 saal kaise bitaye par i am writing my experiance

i am like a desi balak
and went vmc after selection for iit as my family wants that
in the 1 year i was not able to accept what they teach
but as my thinking level increased slowly and gradually i understand the things which they(bade bhaiya, and all other bhaiya) say and desi tarike say chalta chala gaya unki batai
hui raha par muskile to aayi, par wo jo galat kam i karta that was corrected by bade bhaiya .JO THODA BAHUT MAINE APNE AAP KO AUR DUNIYA KO JANA HAI WO VMC ME HI AAKAR JANA HAI AUR WO MERI ZINDGI KI SABSE BADI UPLABDHI HAI.

ab tu dekh le is waqt i am happy rank1129
now u have to do a work

bed par leth kar ya beth kar jaise bhi comfortable lage
aakein band karke dhiyan laga aur soch ki asal me kiski galti thi to tujhe apne aap samaj aa jayega

and also it is always better to learn from past and work for future

total selections increased to over 10,000…
still success rate of regular goes down to 59.7% 4m 64%……

  49. aayushi gupta

    Anirudh Bhaiya,

I need a really genuine and good advice. I am a good student. Would not say ‘the only best out there’. But yes, I can say that I deserve A lot more from life. Today I have my name in the extended merit list of IIT JEE 2009 which I know is not a big deal. I don’t know you but still I don’t know why I felt like sharing this with you. I suffered a defeat in 10th boards(91% aggregate). AnD after that I got too depressed and could not stay on the right path to success – thats total devotion and hard work. I can say that I literally didn’t study anything. even before the exams but still managed all this as I passed 12th this year with 86%(which is not that good). I didn’t even do the syllabus once not even 50% before appearing for IIT JEE 2009. Now, as I see many others who once walked on tracks parallel with mine, side by side sometimes a step ahead and sometimes a step lagging behind, have excelled and done far better than me. Today noone knows that what I have got today is much lesser than what I can actually achieve. I am planning to drop this year and now prepare and study well to make it to the top 20 AIRS in IIT JEE 2010. Is this decision right??
Or I should take admission in some other reputed college like BITS?? and how is IIST??

Well, I know that nothing compares with an IIT. IIT Bombay simply rocks!

And further if I drop, then which insti should I join VMC, Bansal, Vibrant (as its only trying to come up this year). As per the benefits of this extended merit list I am elligible for direct admission with fee concessions in both Bansal and Vibrant Academy, Kota. But for that I have to deposit the fee by June 10, 2009. My BITS is on June 8, 2009. What should I do? If I wait for VMC’s test on June 21, 2009, I think I would make it to it, but still taking into consideration the other side of the same aspect, like I would have no grounds to stand on. I don’t want to make any mistakes now and bond with the best.

And is VMC still the best for IIT JEE coaching or has Bansal overtaken it in the past few years for each year Bansal students are making it to top AIRs?/
    What should I do??

Is VMC’s methodology of having classes only once a week and all the rest of it successful and enough for ME to be assured of achieving great success in IIT JEE 2010??
And regarding the weak link of chemistry as mentioned in some of the previous comments?
I had VMC’s correspondence these two years. What do you think are the chances of getting through VMC’s admission test?? Like you have already been an ex-VMCian.

And as by now you must have already come to know that I am very confused, please guide me for now I know that self study and hard work- there’s no substitute to it.

I don’t have much time to think well before taking the right decision so please be quick in your reply…

GENUINE ADVICES from anyone out there are also welcome!!!

  50. aayushi gupta

    hey alok,

I would be really happy if you could advise me on my previous post. please go through it…

  51. qwerty

i am an ecc 2009 batch student, ill agree wid the ppl out here that vm standards hv gone down considerably, i got a pathetic rank in jee(8000), the biggest fault with vmc is its chemistry, it is most scoring bt generally vm students get d least in chem only.. ecc had a very bumpy ride for the past two years in other subjects as well, in physics we had lakshay bhaiya who was d worst phy teacher i’ve ever been taught from, for an entire yr, we had several teachers in phy.. in maths i appreciate vmc a lot, palu bhaiya and munna bhaiya are excellent and vivek bhaiya is also okay.. I know for a fact that a lot of ecc students who have fetched ranks were taking private tutions at home!!! i think its about time that vmc changes its methodology to improve their results, with the cream coming to them results should hv been a lot btr, i personally believe that the same students, if taught i fiitjee or narayana etc. will produce a lot btr results, as far as im concerned i started reanalysing myself after jee and aieee(which were disasters!).. with some help of my friend in iit, i realised what i’ve missed.. i gave my bitsat on 26th and got 352.. i will like to suggest future iit aspirants to think twice b4 puttin their entire trust in VMC. not only the no. of students clearing jee have gone down BUT good ranks have also decreased considerably.. so it doesn matter if u get a rank b/w 3000-8000 as u will hardly get anything!!!!..
i would also like to add that i do not wish to offend other vmc students. regular students didnt face the same students as ecc(as u can see from result).. nd as sm1 rightly said, u cant see the disadvantages bcoz u got a good rank!!

  52. Lukewarm

I think you guys are not VMC students. I was Reg. 2008 batch student and i still remember what Bade bhaiya said in our first class. “Agar tumhe hamse koi problem ho to aapas mein criticize mat karna. Hamse discuss karo. Family ki issues koi padosi se discuss karta hai kya.”.

Why dont you go to VMC and discuss the same with Bhaiyas ? They will not kill you. I think that they will listen to you and take your feedbacks.

If you would have got a good rank then you guys would have been praising VMC. That is a fact. I think you people should think about.

And please dont say anything about Chhote bhaiya. He is a genius and everybody who has attended his classes, feels the same. If i do a voting on Orkut about him, he will be favorite of all.

Seems like, i am correct in saying that you guys are not VMCians. They dont behave like this. Others will also agree with me.

  53. Raaj

Hi..i am too sailing in the same boat..i am in the extended merit list and thts really not a big deal..thinking of dropping this year and giving a go at jee next year…i was planning to take the correspondence course of vmc so wanted to ask how is it??..i believe in self study so will it be sufficient if i practice the material and do ncert with it?? planning to take the correspondence and some individual classes for certain topics to get through..thanks.

Info which might be of use to ppl with low ranks (1500 – 3000) types

I was a VMC Regular student (99 – 2001) and as someone who got “not-good” ranks at IIT JEE ( ranks nearing 2000 , in both 2001 and 2001 and still had a good academic and professional career after that I’ve got some info from my personal experience which might be useful to others.

Like almost every student who appears for the IIT JEE I wanted Computer Science. Not just because it was the “in” thing but because I really liked the subject , was a self taught programmer and wanted a career related to it. I was fine with Mathematics and Physiscs but being someone who just cannot study something to which I have an aversion to , I was hopeless when it came to Chemistry.

Anyways I got a rank nearing 2000 in JEE 2001 and took up Metallurgy Dual degree @ IIT KGP , was pretty frustrated, scored really badly in the first year ; gave JEE again got a crappy rank again (nealy the same) went back to KGP this time with MSc Maths and Computing , had a respectable enough GPA at the end of the first year ( honestly nothing to boast about because I was studying everything again , but then pure academics in subjects I didn’t care about were never my cup of tea).Anyways I dep-changed to 4 yr BTech Energy Engineering ( offered by the EE Dept) . All the while I retained my interest/hobby in programming & read CS Books on my own ; when I reached the 3rd and 4th year I also did a Minor Degree in CSE. I maintained a decent enough GPA throughout (after joining the second time) though nothing spectacular.

Then came the placement season. By that time I had regained my self confidence, had much better programming skills than even most CS Students in the batch and I ended up getting two of the very best jobs which were typically available to CS Students only .

Other than the fact that I’d lost a year, when I passed out , I’d bridged any difference there was between me and somebody who started off with <100 <10 ranks at JEE. Most importantly I was doing something I was interested in.

The point I’m trying to make is this. I think VMC Does GREAT STUFF by NOT doing stupid things like holding classes every day . Excessive Spoonfeeding might get you a much better JEE Rank in the short term, but its just an ENTRANCE examination damn it , and do you really want to spend all of life’s energy and focus in clearing it ?

I think it was a very efficient method of teaching – important and tricky concepts which you generally can’t figure out from books on your own.

Yes , coaching centres in Kota Hyderabad , Bihar , Jharkhand probably help their students to get much better ranks . But I’ve seen these people @ IIT. They generally belong in two buckets.
    1) Ppl who were’nt really too smart and ended up cracking the JEE thanks to the sheer number of coaching hours they put in.
    2) People who may have been smart once upon a time , but tell you what, after so much spoonfeeding for two years,
you expect it for the rest of life and cannot use any originality or creativity of your own.
These guys Give up once they enter ITT , pass out with crappy jobs , poor GradePoints and there’s virtually no achievement on their resume after IIT JEE.

The only thing most of these people do is talk about “that IIT JEE” rank , for years after they pass out, and that’s pretty sad because the rest of the world has moved on ahead of them irrespective of the starting point.

So when people say things like “is their life after 500 rank at JEE” and what’s the use of going to VM if the number of ranks under 500 is so much fewer than other places, be thankful that you went to a coaching centre which didn’t burn you out for the rest of your life.

Also , whatever ranks you get JUST USE THEM WISELY.

If you are genuinely interested in Computers , Electronics and don’t have a rank to support that at one of the main IITs, its perfectly okay to go to Guwahati or Roorkee . Also , Kharagpur has an excellent Minor degree system and a lot of academic flexibility. People doing Minor degrees in CS ECE , have in the past , easily got jobs in core Computer/Electronics companies (even if they started off at 2000+ ranks). But n ote that not all can do a minor in CSE – it depends a lot on availability of timetable slots , seats in the class etc.

Also take a look at branches like Instrumentation,Energy , Maths& Computing at KGP. These courses, when coupled with the right elective or optional courses place you at par with any CS ECE guy if you like those fields.

there seems to be a lot of… arguments… for the lack of a better word… going on. mr.sufferer, u’v started quite a debate. congratulations. i’m a vmc-ite(2009) and have made it to the extended list (its worthless in the eyes of many, i know), but got a good rank and score in aieee and bitsat respectively. look, initially even i felt betrayed when i saw my jee result. not only that, i felt i had let down a great many people – vmc, bade bhaiya, kiran didi, vivek bhaiya and my parents too. but you know the best thing about vmc… the two years that i’ve been in this amazing institution, they’ve managed to intill so much of strength in me that i was able to overcome that and appear for dce today with a relaxed mind. i may not have secured an air in top 1000, but the change in my personality that vmc has brought about is going to last a lifetime. i can never thank them enough. who knows what the future has in store for us, but the two years i spent as a part of the vmc family will always be a treasured memory. if i manage to do well hereafter, a major part of the credit would go only and only to vmc. i happen to have attended a few fiitjee classes too just for the sake of it…and i practically ran away from there. the kind of “vela”panti i experienced there after the utmost disciplined environment of vidyamandir nearly suffocated me to death. i’m sorry that i was not good enough for vmc standards and have a hand in making it look bad (not enough people in top 500/1000). bade bhaiya, please accept my humble apology and gratitude.
all the best everyone. i’m sure you’ve done/ will do really well…especially if you are a vmc student!!!
    way to go vm!!!!

  58. aayushi gupta

VMC correspondence course is good.. even if you don’t know the abcs of any topic, you would be able to understand it and not just understand but understand it well through it.. thats the best part of VMC’s correspondence which in itself is very different from all the rest available out here. Like the functions chapter of mathematics deserves so much appreciation that its worth mentioning here along with coordinate geometry, chemical kinetics ..basically the whole of physical chemistry and physics..But ya there’s a loophole that some topics are not well covered so simply relying on it won’t be beneficial.. but yes still thats not a reason big enough to refrain you from going for it. So go for it but do go through other books available in the market as well.. I am saying all this from my personal experience. I hope it’ll work out.

Well, if you could please tell me how is Bansal Classes, KOTA?? I am planning to join it’s regular classroom course to get through..
    thanks

  59. alok

Well said, Prashant!!! What you said is exactly what I wanted to add in a second comment, but seeing now that you have done a much better job than me, I will drop the idea.

Pls sb delete this whole topic from the blog.

  61. raaj

Thanks for that info.I was a regular classroom student of bansals kota for 11th and 12th.It is a good institute but it all depends on the individual.I mean u can judge yourself the best.It will definetly keep u on the run, tht’s for sure. Its very important for you to be in a top batch. They pay a lot of attention in the top batches and the sir’s believe tht students can crack jee.So u cant miss out scoring well in any of the regular monthly tests held there. The order of teching inorganic is a bit unusual i think. They went for the group chem at the end in our course. Also P.JOy sir of Ables education is a very good sir for organic. I mean he is the best.I will be joining the organic batch of his.wil write to u again in few days , m in a hurry now.

  62. Madhur Kabra

    Hi all,
I am an ex-VMCian and ex-IITDite. Lately many of you are speaking poison for VMC. But before saying something pls have a look at this link:

    http://blog.100percentile.com/vmcblog/?p=318

Now all you will be looking for places to hide your face. VMC is the only institute which shows its true result and not like others which adds the Test Series students to its result.
Also many of you are saying that VMC doesnot focus on inorganic chemistry and blaming them for your failure, its not a good practice. You should accept your failure with open heart as you might have accepted the success.
When you will enter into any of the engineering college then it will be only you who will have to work and study, no Professor will ever teach you anything, you will have to solely depend on the self-study and there wont be any prof who would say you that you should study, atleast in VMC Bade Bhaiya forces you to study. Also in college there would be many distracting factors.. so start to believe in yourself and work for your own.

Hey people, read a lot of stuff about VMC, but only about the 2 year programs (RCC & ECC). Could someone hint me about the Aim-IIT course for 10th, as I’ve joined it this year.
This year they’re paying 20% attention to phy and chem and remaining 80% to maths, unlike till last year, when only maths was taught. Plus there are only 24 classes in all.
How should I get the maximum benefit from the course?

  66. abc

dude ,dont take so much tension at this stage.i dont think aimiit is preparatory course for iit.its only a kind of tution to basic of 11th class.so for now just enjoy studying there

  67. raghu nayyar

    i m also a student of VMC..ECC..the principles of VM are superb….
get that thing in mind…..VM makes students into human beings not like horses..that we get to see in kota n all..
yes u seriously think VM gives some magic potion that makes u clear IIT?.nope…u yourself have to study hard…
VM prepares us for life not IIT….
    proud to be a VMCian

There are some suggestions which may be fruitful :
    1. Buy University Physics, HC Verma and Irodov for Physics. Buy theory frm VMC module, and University Physics, and then solve questions frm VMC package, HC Verma and at last, Irodov. This will bring atleast 20 students in top 100.

    2. Buy P. Bahadur for Physical Chemistry. and arihant series (optional).

    3. For maths, use S.L. Loney for trig. and coordinate geometry. and A. das gupta for practice purpose.
