Dear VMC Students,
Based on the post for Counseling for our students, we have got excellent response and we must admit that it was more than our capacity and expectations. We have tried to allocate slots to as many students as possible and we are sorry to say that it would be difficult to accommodate any furthur.
For your reference, we are putting a list for various departments in NSIT, DCE and BITS.
Note : One should arrange the department priority as per individual Score/rank, choice & interest.

Atleast put up a preference list that we should fill in DTU and NSIT forms.

For all the people confused about filling up the preference order for DTU and NSIT – the list uploaded is THE preference order, and it is recommended to fill up the choice sheet of DTU and NSIT in the same order as given.
As for the new streams, as said above place them as written in the list uploaded, and the information is absent because the cutoffs are for 2008 admissions, when these branches were not opened. These branches’ cutoffs will be available in 2009 cutoffs, which are not currently updated by DTU as yet.

IITD biotech had amazing placements this year and it is comparitively easy to get a good cgpa in this 🙂

Indian companies prefer IT-BHU in comparision to even the old IITs as there is less risk of their students of leaving the companies for an MBA. So, BHU has quite good placements. In the new IITs, go for IIT gandhinagar or hyderabad. These have quite good faculty n r also on top of the priorities of students going into the new IITs

I do not want to go for dual degree(I am not getting electrical dual at IIT Madras). Plus I wish to stick in main five IITs. And then regarding instrumentations I have enquired about it, it is like an off shoot branch of mechanical not like that of DCE which provides instrumentations(much similar to electrical). Thus I wanted to know which would be the best option in this situation.

You should fill the forms for both NSIT and DCE.
You might get a decent branch in DCE and somewhat lower branch in NSIT.
Apart from this also try for the NIT’s.

it is very obvious this course is has all the important EE/ECE courses , with awesome electives from CS as well . please check out the curriculum of different branches from the iit websites instead of banking ur career on random hearsay ; or by last yrs closing ranks . Also do google searches to check where ppl of various branches / iits ended up .

It is not compulsory to stay in the hostels.
You will be allotted a hostel, and you WILL have to pay its fees, but it is not necessary to stay there.
Although, I guess if you really dont want a hostel, you can apply at the office of the Dean w.r.t same.

I think you should apply for IIIT Hyderabad (if you filled its counseling form and you may get CS 5 year) and NSIT and DCE.

U should opt for textile at IIT D if you are sure you have to do MBA after B.Tech.

No one can predict wot u’ll get at the end of 5th 6th round of counselling, though ther’s no harm trying.
If you go to NIT silchar then prepare urself mentally that u’ll not be able to study for JEE-2011 as well as you’ll be able to do in bid cities like delhi etc. as the oppurtunities are very less. So u’ll have to put in the extra effort along with collg. studies to do well in JEE -2011.

My AIEEE AIR is 3803(non-Delhi), JEE rank is 7349 and BITSAT score is 304.At a score of 304, I don’t think that I will be able to get any BE at Pilani. Should I try for dual courses since at Pilani BE is assured with Msc? Or should I try for DTU/NSIT? What all can I get over there?Is it advisable to take any other college apart from the above-mentioned 3 colleges?Is it practically possible to prepare for JEE-2011 side by side?

According to me you should take DCE/NSIT CS/ECE and prepare for JEE-2011 if you really want to do that.
Yes u might not get any BE courses at Pilani. NSIT/DCE is better than going for MSc courses in Pilani.
Apart from these three colleges you can try for NIT’s and IIT-H.

1)At AIEEE AIR 3803, I don’t think that I will be able to get COE,ECE,EEE,Mech,IT… at DTU and COE,ECE,IT at NSIT since I don’t have Delhi quota. I’m left with production,civil… at DTU and ICE,manufacturing at NSIT.What should I opt for?

If you are sure that you’ll do MBA after B.Tech. then you should certainly go for the brand and take up the courses available to u at IIT R.
But if there is slightest of doubt about you doing MBA after grad. then go for NSIT comp.

Jee air is 3252 i filled choice sheet wrong in iit so i will be most probably stuck with guwahati chemical science and tech.my bits score is 341 and aieee air is 497 (category 450)and delhi rank 51(category 48). So most probably i will get cs@bit s pilani and in all nits . I am prepared to live anywhere and what is the scope guwahati chemical science and tech. What shud i do bits or nit trichy surathkal etc ? I personally am inclined towards the nits inspite of their rankings becuz of their highest placement is better than that of bits. And i am the kind of guy who can be at the top if he wants to!!!!

BITS pilani is definitely far better than NIT’s. It has a brand value attached to it which is not the case with NIT’s so according to me you should go for BITS pilani CS or ECE whichever you get.

There is no electronics in IIT-D. As far as electrical and CSE are concerned, CSE last year closed at 154 while electrical closed somewhere around 250.

IIIT Hyderabad CSE sounds like the best deal in my opinion . IIIT students have now gone abroad to some of the best universities for higher studies and have penetrated into the best technical companies as well ; and are readily recruited by Google , Microsoft , Amazon etc .
Even if you want to do an MBA later on , if you work a couple of years with a good organization this really helps .
Also , Hyderabad is a very central location for top IT companies so placements are generally good at IIIT .
If you want to just take up any branch to get the IIT tag then take up IIT Roorkee Civil . Not that there is anything wrong with Civil engineering , but at the moment you don’t have very good opportunities with this in India as compared to CS . Also , people generally find this less interesting than the hot CS / ECE branches .
If you have got CSE might as well go to IIITH ; its got better faculty than BITS pilani . IIIT as a brand seems to be doing better than BITS ( outsider’s perception ) .

i would say computer in nit delhi if u have patience…coz d time u’ll finish ur course nit delhi will definitely gonna overcome dtu n nsit….it’s really gonna boom a lot, being a only nit in a metropolitan city.
