Comparison of the two modes by which students can take an Online test

Students of Vidyamandir Classes can now take any Online test by two modes:

Test Room, which is a comprehensive, state of the art desktop application from Vidyamandir Classes. It is a feature rich, smart client application which helps you take as well as manage all aspects of tests from Vidyamandir Classes. It also has a number of other features like Auto save, Single sign on navigation, rich user interface, configurable themes, configurable questions to be seen on a page and allows you to take tests, as well as revise questions with or without internet, with ease.

Silverlight interface, which lets you take tests in browsers like Internet Explorer and Mozilla firefox. The test taking interface is same as the test room. The 4.5 MB setup can be quickly downloaded (2-3 minutes) to give the test.

A quick comparison between Test Room (Windows based desktop client) and Silverlight (Browser based Test taking interface) is listed below:

Test Room

		If you do not have internet on the machine on which you are going to take test then please install this.
		You can revise questions in offline mode.

		Internet is required only for downloading the tests in test room and for submission of answer files.
		Provides features like Auto save of test in case of power failure, configurable view for number of questions per page, configurable theme, single sign on navigation to view result.
		Comes with Help and User manuals.

		Requires pre-requisites like .NET framework 2.0 and WSE runtime 2.0.
		Results and Reports can be viewed in Test Room,without going to the website.

Silverlight interface

		If you have internet on the machine on which you are going to take test then please install this

		You can revise questions only on the website.

		You can take tests quickly, but it requires internet. Mozilla firefox requires internet only for downloading and submission of test, but Internet Explorer also requires internet while the test is being taken.

		Saves test in case of power failure.

		Comes with Context sensitive help.
		Only requires Silverlight setup as pre-requisite.
		Test result can be viewed on the website only.
